COVID-19
First and foremost I want to extend my sympathy to everyone who has been sickened or succumb to COVID-19.
The last week has certainly been a crazy one here at the travel desk and the next few promise more of the same. I know it has been difficult for all of you with future travel plans as well.
As you probably know, the industry response has been changing daily. New cancellations and policy changes are happening so fast that they are being implemented before being fully communicated. Hold times with the vendors are stretching into hours instead of minutes. Often my best information is coming from the vendor websites since even their employees are not always fully informed about the latest developments.
At this time my personal experience is that cancellations are running at about 50% for travel booked in the immediate future. Many people are taking advantage of the liberal policies that are allowing for a 100% Future Cruise Credit for rescheduled travel.
While I certainly can’t advise you as to whether or not to cancel or reschedule your travel plans I can tell you that I will do my very best to accommodate your decision and provide you with the best information I can.
Thanks so much to all of you who have expressed that having a travel agent to assist you in making your travel plans is always a great idea but having a travel agent who can help when things go awry is even better.
